“True, without falsehood, certain, most certain. What is above is like what is below, and what is below is like that which is above.”

Hermetically Speaking

“As above, so below” is, without doubt, the most famous saying of Hermeticism. Originally, it was an astrological aphorism and meant that what happened in the heavens was reflected here on earth. Modern Hermeticists look at it more broadly—as an expression of the interconnection between the “Above” and the “Below,” the material realms with the spiritual realms, the immanent with the transcendent.

Hermeticism is an ancient spiritual, philosophical, and magical tradition. It is a path of spiritual growth. Hermeticism takes its name from the God Hermês Trismegistos (Greek, “Thrice-Greatest Hermes”), a Græco-Egyptian form of the great Egyptian God of Wisdom and Magic, Thôth. What may be defined as Hermeticism has also been called the Western Esoteric Tradition, and embraces the Perennial Philosophy or the Ageless Wisdom.

Hermetic art and talisman making are profound spiritual expressions of the magicians of light, intertwining creativity and devotion. These practices serve as conduits for divine energy, intended to be tools for self discovery, provide protection, and connect individuals with the sacred. I draw upon ancient hermetic traditions and magical practices of the Golden Dawn, infusing symbols, colors, and materials imbued with meaning, transforming select prima materia into powerful tools of manifestation and reflection. The process is often meditative, allowing the maker to channel intentions and energies into their work, thus creating a sacred bond between the artist, the art, and its eventual bearer.
